Leftover Luxuries believes in the importance of helping others by giving back to the communities we serve. If you have a relationship with or feel passionate about a certain charity in your area, please let us know. All items that are not picked up by the consignors at the end of the Sale Event – become the property of Leftover Luxuries and we like to team up with different charities in each area to spread the goodness. Next Sale Event: September 13th – 22nd, 10am – 6pm – Pantops Shopping Center.
If you are a consignor and would like a portion of your sales to go to a certain charity, just let us know that you wish to be a part of our “Consign for a Cause” program. There is still time to CONSIGN for our Charlottesville Sale Event. Everything must be pre-approved. If you would like to become a consignor, please go to our CONSIGN page on our website for all the details.
If you can’t write a check to a charity, but have something you can sell – CONSIGN with us and the proceeds will go to that charity!
For the upcoming event here in Charlottesville, we are teaming up with two different local non-profits: Common Ground Healing Art center and the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA. Below is more information on both.
Common Ground – I recently visited with the Bryan Phillips, the Director of the new wellness center. Common Ground is located in the historic Jefferson School City Center in the heart of downtown Charlottesville. The space includes a fully equipped yoga studio, a community acupuncture clinic, and private treatment rooms for massage, herbalist consultations, and counseling and coaching sessions. By sharing space and working together, the practitioners connect and collaborate in serving clients who seek to integrate multiple healing modalities. Common Ground’s wellness center is a hub for healing arts practices in the Charlottesville community. Since January 2010, Common Ground’s outreach programs have been bringing the healing arts directly to community members who may be unable to access them otherwise. Through a generous grant provided by the Bama Works Fund of the Dave Matthews Band as well as hundreds of volunteer hours donated by local healing arts practitioners, the Community of Healers program is reaching underserved populations in our area through a combination of free wellness services and job training opportunities in the healing arts. Common Ground is committed to empowering our community to live a healthy lifestyle, and the unique way we provide services will make wellness available to all members of our community, regardless of ability to pay. They believe that working together, and with the continued support of foundations, corporate giving programs, and individual donors, they can make a difference in the health of our whole community, one person at a time. Here is their Mission Statement:
Our Mission Statement: Common Ground is a nonprofit wellness center committed to engaging the whole community in healthy living. Our practitioners teach and inspire you to take charge of your health through proven practices such as yoga, acupuncture, herbalism, meditation, massage therapy, and mindfulness-based counseling. Our services are offered on a sliding scale basis, making the center accessible to all.
Common Ground’s larger vision is to bring people together across socio-economic lines around the shared goal of improved health and wellness, and to help each of us experience the fact that we are part of an interconnected community where everyone has the right to feel well and whole. Our five year goal is for the demographics of the people we serve to reflect the demographics of the City of Charlottesville.
CASPCA - who doesn’t love FURRY friends! My boys and I have found some fabulous family members here at our local SPCA. The CASPCA has so many furry friends that need homes. If you can’t bring home a new family member, please spread the goodness by donating and or Consign for the Cause!
Here is their Mission Statement & Vision:
The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that provides a safe environment for the lost, abandoned, and homeless animals of Charlottesville and Albemarle County and places them in good homes. We strive to set a standard of excellence and leadership in animal care, humane education, and progressive animal welfare programs.
Vision - To guarantee a good home to every healthy and behaviorally sound companion animal. To save all dogs and cats that are medically treatable and can be behaviorally rehabilitated. To be a leader and an example for other organizations. To set the standard for our region, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the nation for how to save lives. To develop constructive relationships that advance the CASPCA’s mission and vision with our community, our city/county governments and other nonprofit organizations.
